NASS - special software for rain gauge analysis
NASS (NiederschlagsAnalyse- und -SyntheseSystem = precipitation analysis and synthesis system) is a program for evaluating in time + space and for creating or completing continuing precipitation time series.
As well as continuous precipitation time series, NASS offers the possibility of using a day value time series from a numerical weather forecast. Thus NASS can be applied to forecast creation of station data.
The data control is based on one hand on analysis of single time series and on the other hand on comparisons of neighbour stations. The selectable tests can be adjusted so that implausible time intervals are set as gap. It is possible to work with day values as well as with continuous time series.
Data for the data control can be in UVF-, DVWK-, MOUSE-Text- or HMZ-format. Outputs are produced in UVF-, MOUSE-Text- or HMZ-format:
- quality test data for each time series
- original input data with optional set gaps
This software has been applied to the determination of areal rainfall in NRW, which has taken place in scope of a project for the LANUV NRW
